With steep slopes covered in lush foliage that give the park its name, the terrain can be challenging. Additionally, participants must be in good physical condition due to the altitude of 5200 feet and higher. The amount of time it takes to locate the gorillas varies greatly; it could take as little as 30 minutes or as long as 8 hours before one returns to the hotel. However, overcoming difficulty is possible, and it will be well worth it to interact.
Notes to the scheduled tours:
- All extras, such as chimpanzee fees, gorilla permit costs, and similar extras, are not discounted or commissionable because they are direct rates.
- However, the 3-day extension to Jinja, Uganda—source of the Nile—with option of rafting (Tour No. 5)—and all associated charges, including all add-ons—are commissionable to tour operators and travel brokers.
- Recommendations: When booking trips during the high season (Jan-Feb, June-Sep, Dec-Jan), you should do so at least six months in advance and no later than 45 days before your arrival; however, during the low season (March, April, May, Oct, Nov), reservations can be made up to 21 days in advance.
- In the itineraries, we’ve recommended higher class (often four star) accommodations. Please get in touch with us for supplements if you want to stay in platinum or top-tier properties.
