Day 1: City & Constitution Hill
Morning: 08:00 – After breakfast at your central Johannesburg hotel (included), meet your guide and depart for constitution hill
Constitution Hill. – Explore the site with a guided tour (tickets included). Learn how this former prison complex became a living museum of South African history and the home of the Constitutional Court. Included: Entry and tour of Constitutional Hill.
Lunch: Enjoy lunch at a city cafe in Braamfontein (included).
Afternoon: Continue through Braamfontein – see the creative arts district. Drive across the Nelson Mandela Bridge to Newtown. Pause for photos at the bridge (built 2003) which symbolically links Braamfontein and downtown Johannesburg.
Visit the popular Johannesburg Art Gallery (optional, not listed destinations). Alternatively, stroll through Newtown’s cultural precinct. 17:00 – Return to hotel. 19:00 – Dinner at a gourmet restaurant in Rosebank or Sandton (included).
Day 2: Soweto – Mandela House & Uprising Sites
Morning: 08:00
After hotel breakfast, depart for Soweto. 09:00 – Arrive at Vilakazi Street and tour Mandela’s House museum (included). 10:00 – Walk to the adjacent Hector Pieterson Museum (included) and reflect at the memorial (names of 1976 uprising victims).
Lunch: – Lunch at a popular shebeen or township pub (included), tasting local dishes.
Afternoon: – Visit the Soweto Heritage Museum (Maponya Cultural Centre) to learn more about township life under apartheid. 15:00 – Drive past the Orlando Towers for photos. 16:00 – Return to Johannesburg CBD, drop off at hotel. 19:00 – Enjoy dinner at leisure (included) or optional jazz club show.
Day 3: Cultural Village & Optional Pretoria
Morning: 08:30 – After breakfast, depart north of the city. 09:30 – Arrive at Lesedi Cultural Village (similar to Day 3 above). Spend the morning touring the five tribal homesteads (Zulu, Xhosa, Pedi, Basotho, Ndebele) with music and dance.
Lunch: – Traditional buffet lunch at Lesedi’s Nyama Choma (included).
Afternoon: – Optional: Continue on to Pretoria (30–40 min drive) for a quick tour of the Union Buildings and Voortrekker Monument (not required, but possible for longer stays). Otherwise, relax at the hotel. 17:00 – Return to Johannesburg. 19:00 – Dinner at local restaurant (included).
Day 4: Pilanesberg Safari (Full Day)
Early Morning: 06:00
Depart hotel for Pilanesberg National Park (approx. 2.5h drive).
08:30 – Arrive at Pilanesberg.
Begin a full Big Five game drive with a ranger. Enjoy morning and afternoon safaris (2 sessions) in open 4×4 vehicles, searching for lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo and leopard. Included: Park fees, two guided game drives, bottled water, lunch in park.
Lunch: – Lunch at park rest camp
Evening: – After the afternoon drive, depart Pilanesberg. 18:00 – Return to Johannesburg hotel. – Dinner at hotel or nearby restraurants
Day 5: Gardens & Departure
Morning: 08:00 – After breakfast, drive to the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden (Midrand), a scenic nature reserve famous for its waterfall and resident Verreaux’s (Cape) eagles. Stroll the gardens and visit the Observation Point to see the cascading waterfall and eagle nests.
Lunch: – Return to Johannesburg for lunch at leisure (included).
Afternoon: Free time for last-minute shopping or resting at the hotel. 16:00
– Private transfer to O. R. Tambo International Airport (included) for your onward flight (or to the hotel if you fly out next morning).
